Alford Information Alford is a classic rural town that boasts historic homes but no stores, motels or filling stations. It abuts New York and borders Great Barrington, West Stockbridge and Egremont; Great Barrington and New York state can be accessed via Route 71. Although some farms exist, most land is either open space or residential. Because Alford has retained the look and feel of a bygone pastoral era, the town has become a haven for vacation- and second-home owners.
