Dalton Information Dalton, located just east of Pittsfield on Routes 8 and 9, is a unique blend of small-town living and old-line manufacturing. The town of 6,892 is essentially residential but is also home to one of the nation’s oldest manufacturers, Crane and Co., which has been the sole supplier of paper for US currency since 1879.
