Access to Health Insurance
After working diligently for the establishment of a Group Health Insurance Cooperative, The Massachusetts Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (MACCE), of which the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce is a member, has been approved as a cooperative by the Department of Insurance.
This cooperative will work with insurance carriers in an effort to obtain health insurance for small businesses with fewer than 50 employees. Through MACCE, the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce has been approved as a qualifying Chamber of Commerce and will work with insurers in the coming months to create a health insurance plan for its members, of which nearly 85% are considered small businesses, under the cooperative's definition.
